History of Hayes
Dr. John Hayes established Hayes Chiropractic Center in Portland, Maine in 1981, and has been focusing on the needs of patients since. A graduate of Sherman College of Chiropractic he also received his certificate in orthopedics in 1986. Before completing his chiropractic curriculum, Dr. John studied pre-chiropractic curriculum in Rhode Island and serves as an intern at a large clinic in New Hampshire.
Dr. John Hayes was elected President of the Maine Chiropractic Association in 1988 and served in that capacity until 1991. He has been on the postgraduate faculty of the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa and instructed postgraduate programs in the treatment of the injured golfers and golf performance evaluations.
Dr. John also authored the book The Clinical Chiropractic Assistant, a Para Professional in Adjunct Therapy. He founded the Clinical Chiropractic Assistant certification program for the Maine Chiropractic Association in 1990 and continues to teach the program annually. He is also a member of the American Chiropractic Association, Council on Chiropractic Orthopedics, American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists, and the Maine Chiropractic Association.
An avid golfer, Dr. John is also a certified golf fitness instructor by the Titleist Performance Institute.
John and his wife Jan reside in Rhode Island. They have three daughters, one son and three grandchildren; Amber, Deryn, Alyssa, Johnny, Graycen, Amadeo, and Elsie.
